Defibrillator Phone app locates life-saving first aid equipment – Defiblocator app

The phone app that lets users locate their nearest defibrillator if someone is going into cardiac arrest has been designed by Benjamin Davis, 17, from Hastings.

Benjamin Davis, 17, from Hastings, who has set up his own web and app design company called Top Pocket Media has designed and launched one of the most important apps of recent years. Defiblocator app allows a person needing life-saving equipment to pinpoint their nearest Defibrillator within seconds.

The Defiblocator app is so simple to use. The person needing urgent life-saving equipment simply click a button and details of the nearest Defibrillators are provided. Benjamin wants people to become involved with the app and has added a feature where people can add details of where new Defibrillators have been installed. This means the app is continuously updated.

In 2014 there were over 30,000 cardiac arrests that took place outside of a doctor’s surgery or hospital. However, only one in ten survived. In 2018 the number of people who suffered a cardiac arrest outside of hospital increased to 60,000 with less than 50% of cases where resuscitation was attempted. With the increased number of Defibrillators that are being placed in key locations such as schools, shopping centres, and entertainment venues, it’s expected the number of resuscitation attempts will increase and more people will survive. The Defiblocator app is hoping to boost those figures.

When asked why he decided to build the life-saving app Benjamin Davis replied: “I was shocked when I read how many people have a cardiac arrest and was even more shocked when I saw how many people survived. I wanted to design something that would pin-point where the nearest Defibrillator was to try and help people receive life-saving treatment.”

The owner of Top Pocket Media that provides Web Design, App Design, Graphic Design and Social Media Management said that if his app saves just one life then all the hard work designing it and promoting it would have been worthwhile.

Benjamin wants everyone to download his app to help save a life. He has said that even those people visiting the UK for a holiday should download it in case they or a loved one needs life-saving treatment.
